Monomer and Excimer Fluorescence of 2-Phenylindole in p-Xylene at 20 °C Studied by Frequency-Domain Fluorometry

چکیده
The effect of 2-phenylindole (2PI) concentration in p-xylene upon the fluorescence decay time was investigated by frequency-domain fluorometry. The fluorescence decay of a dilute (10~ M) 2PI solution in p-xylene at 20 °C is single exponential with the mean decay time t = 1.87 ns and practically independent of the observation wavelength (Aobs) in the fluorescence band. The fluorescence decay in a highly concentrated solution (6 x 10" 3 M) is heterogenic and depends on Aobs. For a given modulation frequency ( ~ 200 Hz), the fluorescence phase shifts at the longwave observation (440-480 nm) distinctly exceed 90°, thus clearly indicating that the observed (excimer) fluorescence results from a process taking place in the excited state. The fluorescence decays were measured at seven values of Aobs (360-480 nm), and all the results were analyzed comprehensively (tj and t 2 are equal for all Aobs; the amplitudes are different). The lifetimes of the excimer state is relatively short (~3.5 ns). Radiative (re) and non-radiative (t,) rate constants for monomer fluorescence of 2PI in p-xylene were determined using appropriate data from photoand radioluminescence measurements.

The extent of pyrene excimer fluorescence emission is a reflector of distance and flexibility: analysis of the segment linking the LDL receptor-binding and tetramerization domains of apolipoprotein E3.
Pyrene is a spatially sensitive probe that displays an ensemble of monomeric fluorescence emission peaks (375-405 nm) and an additional band (called excimer) at ~460 nm when two fluorophores are spatially proximal. We examined if there is a correlation between distance between two pyrenes on an α-helical structure and excimer/monomer (e/m) ratio. Using structure-guided design, pyrene maleimide ...

Background: The important issue in the application of Photodynamic Therapy (PDT), as one of the fundamental basis of new treatment for cancerous lesions, is optimal dosimetry. In this context, it is necessary to obtain enough information about the drug concentration within the target tissue. On the other hand, the fact that ALA itself is not a photosensitizer and causes the production of Pr...

Using multi-frequency cross-correlation fluorometry, the monomer fluorescence lifetime of 1-palmitoyl-2-[10-(1-pyrenyl)decanoyl)phosphatidylcholine (Py-PC) was employed to determine the lateral diffusion constant (DT) of dioleoylphosphatidylethanolamine (DOPE) in both the lamellar (L alpha) and the inverted hexagonal (HII) phases. The values of DT increased with temperature in both phases. Howe...

In this work, Mordenite zeolite was successfully synthesized with Si/Al ratio of 18 in absence of organic template. The hydrothermal method was applied for synthesis under optimum conditions: 24 h synthesis time, 180°C temperature and 2 days aging time. The obtained zeolite was characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Fourier Trans...
